What type of vehicles require power supplies?
Power supplies can be used for various vehicles operating in different sectors, including public transport such as buses, to large industrial vehicles such as tractors, road tankers, lift trucks and more. Power supplies are designed with a highly compact size to provide high voltage solutions for all sizes of vehicles.
Do vehicles use internal or external power supplies?
Both internal and external power supplies can be used in vehicle applications. The type needed will depend on the application.
Do vehicle power supplies need to be isolated?
Vehicle power supplies typically do not need to be isolated for their regular operation. Most modern vehicles use a low-voltage DC system (e.g., 12V or 24V) to power a vehicle’s components. This power supply is shared among these components without isolation. However, for some high voltage systems such as electric vehicles and military or industrial grade vehicles, isolation may be required to follow safety standard requirements.
Do vehicle power supplies require AC or DC power?
Vehicle applications can require either AC and/or DC power. Due to most vehicles utilizing a low-voltage DC system, a DC converter will typically be required in order to power various components within the vehicle such as lights, radios, power windows and other electrical accessories. An AC supply would typically be required in charging applications, such as EV.
