Challenge

Our client needed to power communication towers for radios used for emergency communications such as 911 applications. Due to the secure nature of their equipment, they needed to specify a power supply to keep their equipment alive and reliable with back‐up capabilities.

In addition, they require that their solutions enable broadband mobility network operators to avoid the coming bandwidth crunch, and with a lower total cost of ownership compared to other alternatives, such as fiber and leased lines.

Finally, they needed to power communication to rural and other underserved communities in America, driven by more than $12 billion in stimulus funding available for broadband, information technology and smart network applications.

Solution

Wall Industries designed a custom power supply supporting redundancy, failover, and lower failure rate for improved reliability.

Wall also had the challenge of complexity when supplied with a specific chip set to integrate into the design. In addition the customer saved about 43% per unit.
